Hate the new Facebook profile? We'll solve it

Facebook has recently unveiled its all new enhanced profile feature which displays your basic informations, latest pictures and much more. But a cyber cloud proves that most of the Facebook users are unhappy with this update. As always it may take some time to adopt to the new interface. Are you one among those who want t switch back to the old Facebook profile.

Once you have switched on to the new profile it is a bit tricky to disable it. There is no direct method you can use but what you can do is deactivate your account on a temporary basis and then reactivate it and your new Facebook profile will be gone. All your data remains safe when you deactivate your account temporarily.

We'll help you out step by step. Let's move on:

Google weds Widevine

Google Inc has agreed to buy Seattle-based anti-piracy software firm Widevine in a bid to boost its online video services, the world's dominant Internet search company said on its official blog. Well, another snatch away by Google.

No price was disclosed, but the software firm has raised more than $65 million from investors including Cisco Systems, the Seattle Times reported on Friday.

Widevine's digital-rights management software is used by 250 million Web-connected TVs and other Web-connected devices to protect video content from unauthorized use, the Seattle Times said.

"We're excited to welcome the Widevine team to Google, and together we'll work to improve access to great video content across the web," Google vice president Mario Queiroz said on the company's official blog.

Another sweet revenge from Facebook. The Facebook Mail!

The latest buzz in the internet world is about the upcoming Facebook email service. At a Monday event at company headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif., social-networking giant Facebook unveiled a messaging service to compete directly against Google's Gmail product -- allegedly referred to inside Facebook as a "Gmail killer." But it's not what you might think, said company chief Mark Zuckerberg.

"We don't think a modern messaging service is going to be e-mail," Zuckerberg said, explaining that his company's new service is modelled more after chat than after a straight e-mail client. One of the e-mail's key flaws, after all, is that it's not real time. And messaging needs to be immediate, he said.

"I'm not saying you need to send an e-mail and it shows up at the speed of light," Zuckerberg clarified, but the speed of instant messaging or text messages on cell phones is dramatically different from e-mails."We can do better," Zuckerberg said. Long live his dreams.

Orkut Vs Facebook fight getting worse!

Hi friends,
As you all know both Facebook and Orkut are well established social networking sites. Both of these providers have already created their signature in the social networking world. But the fight between them is becoming worse in the past few months. There are a lot of reasons for this. The main reason is the boom of Facebook's development. Facebook has acquired unbelievable development in the past few years, which has obviously created a head ache for the other providers such as Twitter, MySpace, Orkut, Friensdster etc. But the most threatened provider is Orkut as Facebook has a lot of common features.

But in the case of security, Orkut is more vigilant than Facebook, we presume. Let us start from a very basic restriction. Saving the profile picture. An unknown user who visits you profile can easily save your profile picture in Facebook but cannot do this in Orkut. You may wonder, what is the security aspect in this. But yeah it has. Unwanted distribution and misuse of your picture can be restricted. Starting from this very basic option it ranges up to very complicated privacy features.

Google Launches Music Search

Google launches its all new enhanced feature- The Music Search. As always currently its available for users from the U.S only. Let us have a peep into this service.

The search engine is able to help you discover music you'll like, even if you can't tell it what exactly you want to hear. They've partnered with Pandora, imeem and Rhapsody to include links to their sites where you can discover music related to your queries as well.

This feature doesn't just make search better. It also helps people discover new sources of licensed music online while helping artists to discover new generations of fans and reconnect with longtime listeners.

The all new secure search from Google!

Google, the legendary search provider is up with a new update . The all new SSL search. Bit to bit security. Here is more about it!

With Google search over SSL, you can have an end-to-end encrypted search solution between your computer and Google. This secured channel helps protect your search terms and your search results pages from being intercepted by a third party. This provides you with a more secure and private search experience.
To use search over SSL, visit https://encrypted.google.com each time you perform a search. Note that only Google web search is available over SSL, so other search products like Google Images and Google Maps are not currently available over SSL. When you're searching over SSL, these properties may not appear in the left panel.

MySpace Unveils New Logo

Logo redesigns are always a big deal filled up with a lot of mess. MySpace has taken this challenge recently. It has unveiled its new logo to the visitors. But the history always has a lesson to teach us. And in the case of logo redesigns, history has taught us that it is always a kick to change it. The same issue with the new MySpace logo too. Personally, I'm against this change as the previous one was much better than the new hero. Let us wait for the further responses from the tech world.

MySpace VP of User Experience Mike Macadaan explains the philosophy behind it, “MySpace is a platform for people to be whatever they want, so we’ve decided to give them the space to do it.” Apparently the blank space to the left will be filled with user generated artwork when users hover over it on the redesigned site.

Have a Facebook page? Need a username?

Hi friends,

Usernames are one among the best ways to brand your page. It may be for a blog, company or product.
By registering a username, you are reserving your place in Facebook so that people can easily find you. Not taking the post much lengthy but I'll have to explain a few things.

Is Google breaching our privacy?

Hi friends,
This post is written as a response to the request from one of my readers who asked me to blog about "google breaching our privacy". The user suggested this subject through the "What should we blog about" widget placed in my blog. I here by thank him for suggesting such a wonderful subject. Unfortunately he has not mentioned his name or e-mail address in the given form. The I.P address of the user starts with 117 and ends with 177 (not mentioned due to privacy policies of Blog4Info)

Let us get into the subject. I find that the reader has suggested me a very relevant subject. Under any circumstances, the e-mails received in one's account is his personal property. Either it is offered by a provider or individual. But we can find that Google displaying ads based on the keywords or sentences present in the mails we receive. But we cant conclude that, someone is reading our mails just due to such a system. It may be an automated system configuration which just takes the help of the keywords present in the mail to display matching ads.

Etisalat and Du announces iPhone 4 packages!

Content optimized for users from UAE

“Combined with our bundled data plans, customers in the UAE can experience the new iPhone 4 as never before on the fastest and best network,” said Farid Faraidooni, Chief Commercial Officer at du in a release published Thursday.

Yahoo Generation- Almost over

Google is one of the fastest growing web companies in the world which has its head quarters in California. While Yahoo is one among its greatest rivals in this field. Google mostly known for its search engine is developing its search engine day by day. Yeah, 88% of the world's web users use Google for their daily web search. While Yahoo is not far behind in this field. But certain beginners are gaining popularity in this branch like Bing and Ask in the past few years. But have you ever noticed whether Google or Yahoo or Bing is afraid of each other. Here is an answer. Yeah, Yahoo is a bit concerned on the rise of Google, Bing and Ask.

Here is the proof:
Whenever you search for Google, Bing or Ask in Yahoo search, it recommends us to use Yahoo search instead of those search engines.....But the others are not at all concerned about Yahoo!

Let us hear what our predecessors said………

Post for IndiBlogger Contest

UPDATE: I have won the second place in this contest...Thank You for all the care and  support you readers gave me...Thank you for your valuable votes and I hope this cooperation continues in future too.

Technology has conquered heights in the past decade. Technology has reached to an unimaginable extend. Whatever we humans thought "Never" is now a silly gadget. Yeah, technology is developing at the speed of a ray of light. Thats really  positive growth but every technology harms the human culture and our mother nature. Whatever, we welcome each and every new gadget with two hands. Here is my technological dream or demand.

I wish for a technology that can retrieve the sound present in the atmosphere. Sounds strange? I’ll explain it. Our atmosphere is actually a storage space. Whatever the sounds we make, is heard by us with the help of the atmosphere. It is because of that, there is lack of sound in an atmosphere free environment such as in other planets. So, it is sure that these sounds are present in the atmosphere. It is the same with our predecessors. Their sounds may also exist in our atmosphere. Why can’t we find a technology to decode it, retrieve it?

The wireless signals sent by our modems, T.V broadcasters, etc are retrieved by the associated technologies. Thus we should be able to develop a device that retrieves the sounds present in the atmosphere so that we can hear the sounds of our predecessors. We could have heard what they said on conflicting issues. We could have heard the words of many great men such as Gandhiji. Yeah it is possible. This technology would help us in different ways. Socially, religiously and politically it would help us a lot.

Before some years, humans would have been surprised to hear about a live broadcasting feature. But now it is not strange. We people take it as a technology which is very simple. So, I believe that this technology is also not so strange or surprising. Great innovators still exist between us, Humans. Hope that this technology also would become a truth in near future.

Hope you liked my post. If you found this as interesting please vote for me. To vote please click here!

Twitter- The News Maker

200th POST
-------------------------------------------------------------
Twitter is one among the social networking sites in the internet world. The feature which keeps Twitter special is the use of Twitter by celebrities, politicians, governments and other notable personalities. There are many advantages associated with this but disadvantages are equally following the advantages. In Indian politics, many people have suffered great losses due to their use of Twitter.

Facebook Places :: A brand new approach

Facebook has unveiled a new location based service called Facebook Places to help you easily broadcast your current location to your friends on Facebook.

For instance, if you are inside a shopping mall, you can tell your friends where you are through Facebook Places and the service will also show you other people who may be near that place around the same time. Watch the following video to learn more:

But unfortunately as always, this service is currently limited to users within the U.S!

The Revolutionary Blogger- Hands-off to him!

What is social blogging? The answer is here:
An anonymous, twentysomething blogger is giving Mexicans what they can't get elsewhere, an inside view of their country's raging drug war.
Operating from behind a thick curtain of computer security, Blog del Narco in less than six months has become Mexico's go-to Internet site at a time when mainstream media are feeling pressure and threats to stay away from the story.
Many postings, including warnings and a beheading, appear to come directly from drug traffickers. Others depict crime scenes accessible only to military or police.

Happy Independence Day!

As a techy blog, Blog4Info would like to share the technological achievements of India on this great occasion.

Black Berry attacked worldwide

The revolutionary Black Berry device which created legends for the past few years and became an essential component for many business men is now being haunted worldwide. Why is this happening? Blog4Info looks into this subject.......

First of all, let us have a glimpse of the countries which has already blocked or going to ban the Black Berry services: They include U.A.E, India, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Lebanon.

Now the question may arise; dint this security concerns exist before 2 months? Yeah it did. But nobody looked into it. None of the countries considered about the security concerns. Everybody promoted it now and then. Suddenly a morning countries come up with decisions on blocking this user fondly service. Obviously everybody may have a doubt, is this a play by the other competitors? May be yes. Black Berry gained popularity at a very high rate within a very low period of time. There were many developers threatened by the uprising of Black Berry. Some of the manufactures threatened include: Apple I-Phone, Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson etc. But we dont have any solid evidences to prove it so.

A black spot for BlackBerry!

UAE regulator to suspend BlackBerry services from October 11!

The suspension is a result of the failure of ongoing attempts to bring BlackBerry services in the UAE in line with UAE telecommunications regulations.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) confirmed on Sunday that BlackBerry Messenger, BlackBerry E-mail and BlackBerry web-browsing services in the UAE will be suspended from October 11.
The suspension is a result of the failure of ongoing attempts, dating back to 2007, to bring BlackBerry services in the UAE in line with UAE telecommunications regulations.
Both telecommunications operators – etisalat and du – were informed of the decision earlier on Sunday. The notification was delivered with an instruction to ensure minimal consumer disruption in the provision of alternative services.

Technology advances but..........

Hi friends,
Recently somebody by mistake diverted his calls in to my mobile phone. I started receiving lots of unknown calls in my mobile. The mobile notified me of diverted calls and the people who called were also dialing an other number. But I couldn't contact the owner of the number because my calls to that number ended up in my mobile itself. In vain, I contacted my telecom provider and that was "Du". A customer care representative attended the call. I conveyed my frustration to him. But I was surprised to hear that there was nothing to be done from their side to stop it.

They couldn't even trace the number from which the call was diverted. The representative asked me to ask the number dialed by the people ending up in my mobile phone.

UAE telecom body raises issue of BlackBerry misuse

Certain BlackBerry applications allow people to misuse the service, causing serious social, judicial and national security repercussions, the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority said.

The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) has said BlackBerry operates beyond the jurisdiction of national legislation, as it is the only device operating in the UAE that immediately exports its data off-shore and is managed by a foreign, commercial organisation.

A statement from the TRA said the introduction of BlackBerry in the UAE in 2006 pre-dates the 2007 introduction of the UAE’s Safety, Emergency and National Security legislation, which regulates BlackBerry applications in the UAE.

India Creating History Again:: Laptop @ $35

How cheap? $35 cheap! And it's likely to get even cheaper.

The “laptop”-- which is a touch screen gadget that looks somewhat similar to the iPad--was unveiled this week by India's human resource development minister, Kapil Sibal. The Guardian reports that it has been designed for students and will likely be rolled out in 2011.

Sibal says that for the $35 price tag they've been able to develop “the motherboard, its chip, the processing, connectivity… including memory, display, everything...

Hi friends,
Most of us are familiar with the Peer to Peer file sharing technology, which is now commonly used to share large files through the internet. Now a days this service is being misused at a high rate. You can find anything and everything as torrents. Latest movies, games, softwares, books, songs and much more...

India's Official Portal- Not to the Point

Hi friends,

Hope you all know that www.india.gov.in is India's official web portal. I was really surprised to see that this site was not appropriately updated, to be one of the official portals. The latest update shown was about the cricket scores. I am not against showing this in the portal but they should also deal with other issues, news and related informations. The permanent pages are all well set-up and easily accessible, which I loved about this site.

UAE blocks internet access to descrambling codes for pay TV

Telecommunications Regulatory Authority imposes new measures to protect pay TV channels from internet users who download illegal descrambling codes!

The UAE federal authorities have unplugged television viewers who descramble pay TV channels by downloading illegal pay TV encryption codes from the internet.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority ITRA) claims it is now the first country in the world to block websites that provide black market pay TV encryption data to viewers who use the information to bypass scrambled satellite and cable signals.

On Monday, the TRA said it will "protect pay channels' rights on the internet".

Orkut safer than Facebook, I presume!

Hi friends,
I am amazed at the speed at which Facebook is catching up in India, pushing Orkut to the background. Well, I am generalizing based on my personal experience and not based on any research. I see many of my friends becoming more active on Facebook and less active on Orkut. I see bloggers in an eternal struggle to add more friends so that they can share their links with as many people as possible. I see Indian Companies coming up with Fan Pages on a daily basis. You are right, we do that because Facebook has a lot many more Social Networking options than Orkut. The other part which attacks Orkut is that it is blocked in many countries like UAE.

Untill I read Dennis Yu and his how to spam Facebook like a pro.According to him, many of  the games, the quizes and the other applications that keep popping up while you are on Facebook are aimed at doing three things:

Etisalat e-Support Application - A real mess

(This post is mainly meant for the users from U.A.E)

Hi friends,
This is not a criticism but just my personal opinion. Most of you in U.A.E may be familiar with etisalat e-support application (self resolution software) for Internet users. But this software is of no use to the customers in my point of view.

This application cannot identify connection problems even if it is due to failure of payment of bill, which is the basic. This application cannot also identify problems such as network problems, low-bandwidth, connection errors based on areas, etc.

So you may now ask, What does this software do?
For an advanced user the answer is NOTHING. Advanced in the sense anybody familiar with internet and computers. This application just clears Internet cache, cookies, etc in case of connection issues. This points towards a real mess in this software.

This software, after many steps for identification, shows that the problem could not be resolved and also shows their customer care number (101) which is familiar to most of us.

So I look forward for the updates of this software without such limitations because it is from a company like Etisalat which has given us an appreciable service for the last many years.

Internet Marketing- A must in today's world!

Hi friends,
Today the topic is Internet Marketing. What is it? How is it? How much does it cost? How much does it influence? And much more...............

I. What is Internet Marketing?
Internet marketing, also referred to as i-marketing, web-marketing, online-marketing, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) or e-Marketing, is the marketing of products or services over the Internet

The Internet has brought media to a global audience. The interactive nature of Internet marketing in terms of providing instant response and eliciting responses, is a unique quality of the medium. Internet marketing is sometimes considered to have a broader scope because it not only refers to the Internet, e-mail, and wireless media, but it includes management of digital customer data and electronic customer relationship management (ECRM) systems.. Internet marketing ties together creative and technical aspects of the Internet, including: design, development, advertising, and sales.

II. How much does it cost?
Internet marketing is relatively inexpensive when compared to the ratio of cost against the reach of the target audience. Companies can reach a wide audience for a small fraction of traditional advertising budgets. The nature of the medium allows consumers to research and purchase products and services at their own convenience. Therefore, businesses have the advantage of appealing to consumers in a medium that can bring results quickly. The strategy and overall effectiveness of marketing campaigns depend on business goals and cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis.

Mostly the ads are charged per clicks. So that you dont pay off simply. You pay for what you get, which is an advantage. There are different levels of advertising. High level, Average and Low Level. Advertising with Yahoo is an example of a high level advertising. Yahoo charges approx. $12 for each click on our ad, which is comparitively very high.

Google Ad Sense is a wonderful service offered by Google to small and large businesses. The charge is comparatively affordable and reliable. Most of the users around the world prefer this service.

III. How much does it influence?
The influence is more than what we imagine. In this century Internet plays a very major role in everyone's life. So advertising in this media is really worth it.

Limitations:
Internet marketing requires customers to use newer technologies rather than traditional media. Low-speed Internet connections are another barrier. If companies build large or overly-complicated websites, individuals connected to the Internet via dial-up connections or mobile devices experience significant delays in content delivery.

From the buyer's perspective, the inability of shoppers to touch, smell, taste or "try on" tangible goods before making an online purchase can be limiting. However, there is an industry standard for e-commerce vendors to reassure customers by having liberal return policies as well as providing in-store pick-up services.

A survey of 410 marketing executives listed the following barriers to entry for large companies looking to market online: insufficient ability to measure impact, lack of internal capability, and difficulty convincing senior management.

Hope you got an outline of this most common marketing strategy!
Bon Voyage!

Apple's iPhone 4 selling like hotcakes in online stores

Iconic gadget among top three fast-moving items on souq.com
Apple's iconic tele-com device iPhone hits the market via more and more online shopping platforms in the UAE, with web retailer Souq.com being the latest addition after other online stores such as Alshop.com and Aido.com.

"Currently we have a growing number of merchants and resellers listing around 250 iPhone 4s on our platform," Ronaldo Mouchawar, chief executive officer of Souq.com, told Gulf News. "The effect is that the price has come down very fast."

From an initial asking price of around Dh6,000 for the "factory unlocked" 32GB version of the iPhone 4 prices have now reached a range of Dh3,300 to Dh3,900 at Souq.com.

"The demand is huge, people are buying the phone continuously," Mouchawar said. It is currently under the top three best selling item on Souq.com, he said.

Trading platform
Souq.com does not sell by itself but provides a trading platform, bringing sellers and buyers together and handling the ordering and payment process. Resellers act either on a private or commercial level.
Customers are coming mostly from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and a few from Saudi Arabia.
The iPhone stock offered by them originates mostly in the US, Mouchawar said. He hasn't experienced any issues with Apple, he added. "We work closely with the copyright owner as we did with the iPhone 3G and the iPad."
But the grey market channel can also have its traps.
The iPhones are sold on an "as is" basis, Mouchawar said, which means they do not carry the manufacturer's official warranty and will not be serviced by Apple's authorised dealers and shops.
"But resellers offer their own warranties on the phone," Mouchawar said.
Souq.com yesterday forecast triple digit growth for its business by the end of 2010. The online retailer reported strong growth in 2009 and plans to offer new services in the future, Mouchawar said.
The company has increased its presence since its launch in 2005 and now serves more than 500,000 active buyers and sellers in the region. It says it records 1.5 million unique visitors and 25 million page views every month.

Reception problems
Apple Inc came clean on Friday about an embarrassing software glitch that overstates network signal strength in its hot-selling iPhone, as complaints mounted about the phone's wraparound antenna.

Apple admitted its signal strength miscalculation dates back to its original 2007 iPhone. It promised to fix the glitch in a few weeks, but did not directly address concerns that its antenna design causes reception problems for iPhone 4, its newest phone.

Apple's apology — a relative rarity from the company known for its marketing savvy — marked the third time in less than three weeks it had to apologise to customers of iPhone 4. "Upon investigation, we were stunned to find that the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong," Apple said in an open letter to customers. Since the iPhone 4 hit stores on June 24, consumers have complained about cellphone reception problems when they hold the phone in a certain way. Even while just standing in one place, a rapid decline in the number of signal bars can be observed depending on how the phone is gripped.

Apple has already been sued by iPhone customers in at least three complaints related to antenna problems on the iPhone 4.

Money rules even the web!

Hi friends,
It is a sad fact that money is ruling the web. I have come across many search engine optimization sites but not one which is like the one i'm gonna show you.

The site guarantees Top 10 ranking in Yahoo and Google searches, if it is not working, the entire money will be given back. The site or company is iBusinessProvider. This is really unfair, when there are many people having quality sites but lack traffic while the ones who have money can easily get traffic. Google and Yahoo are one of the most popular search engines. Top 10 in these searches can drive away 1000s of clicks easily. Is this fair or not?

The cost of this service ranges from US$249.95 to US$499.95! This is really surprising that other companies earn from the services offered by Google and Yahoo. Search engine optimization services are good and fair but to this extend, it is really unfair. Cash back facility attracts lots of people into it. This is a kick for the hard work of other website owners.

As you people know, this is not a very popular blog and this post is not going to make any change but atleast my readers should be aware of this kind of unfair practices in the internet world.

LET US TOGETHER MAKE A CHANGE!

32 Hours + £4,000 = iPhone 4 for "Lee"

A Dubai-based business consultant who flew to London to get the new iPhone 4 has described the trip as being "absolutely worth it".

Alex Lee, 27, spent over 32 hours at the head of the line outside Apple's flagship store on London's Regent Street last week. But he had to wait as Apple gave pre-order customers priority.

Lee, who specially rearranged his flight home to Canada via London, purchased four iPhone 4s in the UK taking the total cost of his trip to over £4,000 (Dh22,123).

He said: "Everybody has a passion and mine is meeting people from around the world. I am a very social person and these launches break down barriers between cultures. Everybody in the line has something in common so it is very easy to make friends. I also made some great business contacts.

"Furthermore, I really like the product. It is superior to every other phone on the market including previous generation iPhones. The new model features video conferencing so I can use the camera to speak to people all over the world."

Lee, who was accompanied by his sister, has attended over ten Apple product launches and says the camaraderie is always fantastic.

"The atmosphere in the queue was great; people kept your place if you had to go to the bathroom and everybody took turns to buy food and drink. We also had free Wi-fi internet access courtesy of Apple. The weather in London was ok but coming from the heat of Dubai it still felt pretty cool and damp in the evenings," Lee said.

Lee was not too despondent at failing to be the first person to get hold of the new iPhone 4 despite being first in line. However, he has contacted Apple CEO Steve Jobs about the incident.

Internet rumors:
He said: "I contacted the Apple store in the UK to pre-order an iPhone 4 but their systems were down so they said they would call me. However, they never got back in touch and I began to hear rumours on the internet that Apple was cancelling some pre-orders. I decided the best course of action was to fly to London and join the queue.

"An Apple public relations executive in London said I would not have a problem as I was first in line. But as the launch time moved closer she began to divide the queue into those who had pre-orders and those who did not. Apple fans are a tight knit community and people were telling her that I was the first in line; there was a bit of controversy.

"At one point a man from Norway just came and sat in front of me; let's just say he was quickly removed by some of the people waiting behind. The first guy to get his hands on the iPhone 4 had only waited half the time I had been there.

"He actually felt really bad about the way things had worked out and he told me he did not know what had happened. I have already emailed Steve Jobs and I have had tonnes of sympathy on Twitter."

Microsoft Foresaw but still missed the IPad!

The technology icon stands before a crowd, holding in his hands a prototype that embodies his vision for the future of computing. It's a touch-screen tablet that is thinner than a magazine, has all-day battery life, and sells for less than $800.

But the icon wasn't Steve Jobs and the tablet wasn't the iPad. It was Bill Gates, speaking in 2005 to a crowd of Windows hardware makers in Seattle. The technology enabling such a device was still a few years off, Gates said, but it was time to start working toward that vision.

A year later, Microsoft detailed Project Origami, an effort to commercialize Gates' vision by adding a touch interface on top of Windows XP. Yet, the technology still hadn't caught up with the vision

A few devices, like Samsung's Q1 eventually found their way to the market, but they were a bust, offering terrible battery life and costing more than $1,000. Within a year, Microsoft and the partners had largely abandoned the effort.
Fast forward four years and the Gates tablet vision is a reality, thanks to Apple. Despite a decade spent trying to sell Windows-based tablets and the prescience to see the hardware trends that would make it possible for a device like the iPad to exist, Microsoft has thus far missed the boat..

As Microsoft continues to struggle with new computing form factors such as smartphones and tablets, it might benefit from taking a look back at Origami. How exactly did Microsoft have such a keen grasp on the future and still let opportunity slip through its fingers?

The age of social networking!

social network service focuses on building and reflecting of social networks or social relations among people, e.g., who share interests and/or activities. A social network service essentially consists of a representation of each user (often a profile), his/her social links, and a variety of additional services. Most social network services are web based and provide means for users to interact over the internet, such ase-mail and instant messaging. Although online community services are sometimes considered as a social network service in a broader sense, social network service usually means an individual-centered service whereas online community services are group-centered. Social networking sites allow users to share ideas, activities, events, and interests within their individual networks.

But how many of us are aware of the history of this service. Probably none of us. Let us get into this.

The notion that individual computers linked electronically could form the basis of computer-mediated social interaction and networking was suggested early on. There were many early efforts to support social networks via computer-mediated communication, including Usenet,ARPANET, LISTSERV, bulletin board services (BBS) and EIES: Murray Turoff's server-based Electronic Information Exchange Service (Turoff and Hiltz, 1978, 1993). The Information Routing Group developed a schema about how the proto-Internet might support this.

Early social networking websites started in the form of generalized online communities such as The WELL (1985), Theglobe.com (1994), Geocities (1994) and Tripod.com (1995). These early communities focused on bringing people together to interact with each other through chat rooms, and share personal information and ideas around any topics via personal homepage publishing tools which was a precursor to the blogging phenomenon. Some communities took a different approach by simply having people link to each other via email addresses. These sites included Classmates.com (1995), focusing on ties with former school mates, and SixDegrees.com (1997), focusing on indirect ties.

But now this service has grown into a vast subject or division of the online services. And that is how we started socially networked.

Complaints faster than IPhone 4!

Though the iPhone 4 is flying off store shelves, the just-released device is already gathering complaints from early buyers.

Apple's latest phone hit stores Thursday to lines of people--some who were waiting 6 hours to buy one. But almost as soon as the device arrived on the doorsteps of customers who placed early preorders came reports of reception problems, discolored spots on the screen, easily scratched exteriors, and issues with third-party accessory connections.

The most prominent complaint on Thursday is customers noticing that touching the seams of the antenna band that runs around the iPhone 4--particularly when holding the iPhone 4 in their bare left hand--interrupts reception, slowly causing the phone to lose its signal.

Some iPhone 4 owners may find they strangle 3G reception after a minute or so if their hands are positioned touching the bottom bar and the side bar of the phone. Others are having trouble re-creating the problem, but it appears to vary by device, person, and location.

Boy Genius Report posted a YouTube videoThursday afternoon that showed the problem might be software-related. The person who posted the video was able to re-create the signal loss while gripping an iPhone 3G upgraded to iOS 4.

Apple has not responded to requests for comment. The problems are not yet over. The problems are faced even on the simplest module- Bluetooth.

Apple Support Says iPhone 4 Yellow Tint Problem Is due to the "Residue From Manufacturing" (whatever they say, problems are always problems)

Tips to increase blog traffic- from my experience!

Hi friends,

Today I am going to share some tips to increase your blog traffic and that too from my experience.

1. Write well and write often:
Frequently updating your blog plays an important role in your blog's traffic. Even if you dont have anything to publish frequently, just find something and that must not break your blog's quality. Quality and Quantity is equally important.

2. Submit your blog to almost all the search engines:
Whenever you submit your blog to a search engine, never look its reputation. Even a single click makes a difference. Submit as many as search engines you can. For this you can take the help of a search engine submitter. For example: http://www.freewebsubmission.com/

3. Promote comments:
Comments are often the simplest tool to increase your blog's traffic. Always respond to the comments. Even if it is criticism, reply with a pleasant mind. Always reply the comments with a thanks which makes the reader to comment again.

4. Syndicate your Blog's content with an RSS feed:
Creating a feed of the content of your blog plays a major role in your blog's development. Never leave it undone. Always finish this step first of all. Feed-Burner (from google) is always preferred.

5. Tag your posts:
Tagging the post is another important step. Tag your posts with unique and relevant key words so that the search engines must recognize them.

6. Register with as many as blogger communities you can:
Blogger communities are now very common. They are many blogger communities offering free services. Always register with them and login at least once a day. Keep interacting with other bloggers and offer link exchanges. Blogarama, Blog Catalog, Indiblogger and Xanga are a few to name.

7. Register in link exchanging sites:
Register with almost all the link exchanging sites. Be careful not to register with auto traffic sites as they reduce Alexa rank a lot. Link exchanging sites send genuine traffic to your blog. Linkrefferal  is one of the best link exchanging sites.

And you must understand that getting traffic is not an easy job. It requires much time and attention.  Sometimes it becomes irritating that you dont get any traffic. But that is just a temporary phenomenon. Be optimistic, keep blogging and one day  the blogosphere will recognize you. These are just tips from my experience of blogging for last 3-4 years.

Feel free to share your ideas and views through comments.

Brain or Mobile, You can decide!

There is now a considerable body of evidence proving that microwave radiation from mobile phones and cordless phones (especially mobile phones) causes brain tumors, disturbed brain function and other health disturbances.

The reason is that their microwave radiation has harmful effects at intensity levels far below the values declared as safe.Present safety norms have no tenable scientific support and must be updated, now that it is confirmed by many reliable sources of evidence that they permit far too strong radiation.

People should be very restrictive with using mobile phones as there is a significant body of compelling scientific evidence indicating serious hazards from their usage. Therefore, we advice you to reduce the usage to very few and brief calls. People below 20 should only have mobile phones that allow SMS messages only, but no talking, because the risks are far higher in young people.

Further buildup of the mobile phone net must be stopped. Steadily increasing evidence indicates that it is too harmful to be acceptable for common usage. Moreover, it has been repeatedly confirmed that the radiation from base stations is harmful to health. There are many evidences that mobile phone bases and phones cause a lot of diseases. They include tumor, brain cancer, genetic damage and other health problems.

In a village in India, I have heard that all the bean plants were decayed after a mobile tower was placed in that area. The truth behind is that, all are aware of its negative sides but are not publishing it because of the giants behind all these. If the results come out, I think most of the telecommunication companies and mobile phone producers will be destroyed. The severeness of this issue is not as small as what you think. The impact will be very high. The existence of the human race itself is questioned. I am not very much aware on this issue. Sorry for that.

Some Tips:
Use less than 2 hours a day.
Start sending messages instead of voice calls.
Use only if unavoidable.
Using headphones or earphones reduces the impact.
So please stay away from using it always.

3D poised to hit gamers later this year

Sony, Nintendo battling it out to get games out in the new format, but you may not need glasses for Nintendo.

After taking over the big screen, 3-D is poised to hit the small screen via video games.
Sony Corporation and Nintendo Company presented duelling versions of 3-D gaming on Tuesday at the opening of the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, where attendance was expected to reach 45,000.
Both companies are investing heavily in 3-D video game technology to drive the next wave of consumer spending in an industry that generates roughly $45 billion (Dh165.2 billion) in sales worldwide. Sony showed off a number of game titles it hopes will prompt players to don glasses and enter the third dimension, including Gran Turismo 5, a much-anticipated racing game debuting on November 2, and Killzone 3, an adrenaline-soaked shooting game that is due out in February.
New technology
The 3DS, unlike Sony's 3-D games, does not require glasses, an advantage that Nintendo hammered home at its Tuesday news conference at the Nokia Theatre. "Man! Those glasses!" Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime exclaimed in mock horror. In an effect similar to lenticular images, the Nintendo 3DS projects an illusion of three dimensions on its 3.5-inch screen. The result is a picture comparable to 3-D with glasses.

The 3DS is similar to the current DS console, except that the top 3.5-inch screen will display 3-D images while the bottom, slightly larger display is a touch screen. Equipped with three cameras (two on the outside casing), the DS lets players take 3-D pictures and share them with other 3DS owners via a Wi-Fi internet connection. A slider lets viewers adjust the extent of the 3-D effect, including the ability to turn off the 3-D feature entirely.
